Configuring a cPanel email IMAP account using your local email client


This article describes how to configure an IMAP account within your email client.

This will work with most popular mail clients - including Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, as well as your iPhone or Android mail app.

When adding a new account, use the following settings.

Note your hostname can be the name of your domain name, or your email servers hostname. Please contact support if you need help finding this. You can look up the hostname Please make the necessary replacement when copying the following settings.

One way to find the hostname from an ip address is to simply run nslookup ip_address.

Incoming Settings

Username: youremail@yourdomain.com
Password: your password
Server, or Hostname: hostname - see above. For example "power.cloudshop.net.au"
Port: 993
Security: SSL / TLS

Outgoing Settings

SMTP Server, or Hostname: hostname - see above. For example "power.cloudshop.net.au"
Port: 465
Security Type: SSL / TLS
Username: youremail@yourdomain.com
Authentication: your password
